Medication Refill Policy

To better serve our patients in the most effective and timely manner, the protocol for prescription refills is outlined below.

Patients are responsible for knowing when and which medication(s) will need to be refilled. You must contact the pharmacy to fax a refill request to 214-256-3770.

It is the policy of Dallas Orthopedic & Shoulder Institute that medication will only be refilled during normal business hours: Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm.No prescription refills will be given on Saturday, Sunday, or holidays.

At least 24 business hours are needed to process a refill request.Early refills will not be authorized

Medications or prescriptions will not be replaced if lost or misplaced.If your physician is not in the office or is unavailable, you must wait until he/she returns for medication refills to be authorized.

Non-narcotic prescriptions require follow-up appointments every 3-6 months.Narcotic prescriptions will require a follow-up appointment every 30 days.

As of Jan. 2021, ALL prescription refills will be sent electronically (including pain medications) Please do not come into the office to request a refill.
Do confirm your pharmacy where you will pick up your prescription. There will be an administrative fee of $25 to reissue any prescription.
The providers of Dallas Orthopedic & Shoulder Institute do not routinely prescribe narcotics on a long-term basis, nor do we administer narcotics by injection. Individuals who are seeking pain treatment for chronic use (over 3 months) will be advised to be managed by a pain specialist or your primary care physician.

Caution,

While you are under the care of your surgeon, you may be prescribed medication that could impair your ability to operate a motor vehicle, heavy machinery, or equipment.

Please refrain from operating a motor vehicle under the influence of prescribed medications that impair judgment. Arrange for proper transportation and exercise proper precautions while you may be under influence. If you have any questions, please ask your physician or your pharmacist.
